Using the work completed in the Discussion Board Assignments in Modules 1-3, students will write a paper that describes the PREPARE process for their organization.
Length: Papers must be eight pages in length, excluding title page and references.
Format: The paper must be written using Times New Roman size 12 font, double-spaced, one-inch margins all around, use indention in the first sentence of each new paragraph, use headings and subheadings to organize the material and conform to the style in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7thedition (APA, 2020).
The outline for the paper will be as follows – use the following outline to create headings/subheading.
Title page – the title of the paper, the students name, the number and name of the course, the semester and year on a separate page.
Body of paper – the paper must be written in paragraph form using headings and subheadings. All sources must be cited in-text according to APA rules. In-text citations should include citing the course textbook. The body of the paper must be no less than eight pages. The first heading in the body of the paper must be the title of the paper, centered and bolded. The following sections/headings/subheadings will be used to construct the rest of the narrative:
Title of Paper
Provide the name and location of the agency. Provide the agency’s mission statement and describe the populations it serves and the services it provides. Add any information that will give the reader context about your organization. Describe what you believe are your organizations strengths and challenges.
Problem Statement
State the core problem that you are focusing on for this paper. This problem will be the problem you identified as a top priority in your weekly discussion post. Define the problem and state who (i.e., which population(s) it affects). Then, state the need based on the problem you described. In this section, you will include and expand upon your work in the Module 1 Discussion Board Assignment.
Review of Macro and Personal Reality
Describe your macro and personal reality for this organization. First, list the variables or factors that work for and against your agency related to the problem you identified. Describe how you determined these variables have an impact. For example, describe if and you used a force field analysis, environmental scan, or some other method. Make sure you cite sources. Use the following subheadings to describe each of these factors. This information will include and expand upon your work in the Module 1 Discussion Board Assignment.
Resources and Funding – describe how your agency is funded, whether the funding is sufficient, and how funding affects a macro change at your organization.
Constraining Regulations or Laws – cite rules or laws that influence the quality and quantity of work that would affect the change process
Internal Political Climate – describe your organization’s culture and management style and how it could affect the change process
External Political Climate – describe the local government that influences the community and change in your organization
Cultural factors – describe the local culture and how it influences or is influenced by the organization and how it could affect the change process
Other Factors – present information about any other factor you can think of that influence a macro change at your organization.
Personal Reality – describe your personal qualities, including your strengths and challenges that may act for or against a successful change effort at your organization.
Primary Goal
State the goal you want to pursue for your organization. The goal should be based on one of the needs that you identified and prioritized in the Module 1 Discussion and the corresponding goal you discussed in Module 2. Describe how the goal will address the problem and need you identified.
Influential People
Identify the relevant people that influence the agency. Describe both influential individuals and groups and who are inside and outside of the agency. State how these individuals and groups could influence your project, positively or negatively. This information will be based on your Module 2 discussion.
Costs and Benefits
Describe the potential financial costs and benefits to both the client and the agency for implementing a macro change to address the problem and need you identified. Describe how your agency could profit from the project financially. Describe the benefits to your agency’s clients and benefits to the community. This information will be based on your Module 2 discussion.
Personal and Professional Risk
Discuss what risks you could encounter from implementing a change process. Identify both personal and professional risks. Discuss whether you might be in danger of losing your job, or if your chances for advancement in the company might be negatively affected. Describe how this change could affect your relationships with others who are employed at your organization. You will use information from the Module 3
Discussion to complete this section.
Evaluation of Potential Success
Using your Module 3 discussion and feedback, fully describe the pros and cons of proceeding with a macro change process at your organization. Use the following subheadings:
Pros
Describe your clients’ needs (see Discussion 1 Part I) and your own strengths (see Discussion 1 Part II). Discuss positive organizational and other macro variables that could affect the change process (see Discussion 2). Then describe potential support from influential individuals or groups (see Discussion 2). The identify the financial benefits for implementing a change process (see item 1 in this Discussion).
Cons
Describe your personal challenges (see Discussion 1 Part II) and discuss the negative organizational and other macro variables that could affect your change process (see Discussion 2). Discuss potential resistance – who and what could resist change at your organization (see Discussion 2). Next, describe the financial impact on your agency and whether your agency has the financial resources to support change (see item 1 in this
Discussion). Finally, state your personal risks (see item 2 in this Discussion).
Macro Change Process Decision
In this paragraph state what macro approaches you would use to proceed with the macro change process. State if you believe, based on the evidence in this paper, whether macro change is feasible for your organization. State if you think the process should be continued, put off until later, or completely dropped. You will expand upon your Module 3 Discussion to complete this section.
References
On a separate page, list all the sources your cited in your paper, including your textbook. Use APA (7th edition) formatting for the references page.
